it is not good to use ftape because it is for floppy tape devices,

i compiled it hard into the kernel with make menuconfig in /usr/src/linux

and rebooted, now i'm getting some input/output error messages, do i have to
configure the device somewhere else ?

i'm using redhat 6.2 with kernel 2.2.15
