Oh! Okay, I'll try that at work on Friday.

I'm actually running 6.1, although I have been assuming that which Linux
flavor or version I use doesn't matter much for this, since all I probably
need to do is basic file management (mount, cd, ls, mv...). I have one shot
at this (Friday) before I go out of town for a week, and it would sure be
nice to get this resolved. So although the first thing I will try is the
disk I already made (the one Jens says I should boot from, instead of
booting with my boot disk and then inserting it when prompted), if that
doesn't work it would sure be nice to have that 6.0 rescue.img in hand.
Like Jens said in another message, why isn't such a thing available on the
RedHat site, since they mysteriously omitted it from the CD? Good question,
I think! Anyway, Jeff, if you don't mind sending a copy my way, toss it
toward k-ellrick sctech co jp - thanks. That way, even though you all are
sleeping while I'm at work (this time zone difference can really be annoying
when one is trying to consult with folks), I'll have a backup plan. Thanks
to everybody for your help.
Karen
