Grab the srpm for the kernel. Look at the spec file
to see what patches are applied. The patches
are with the cutdown tar-ball. Red Hat removes
some of the source code from the official kernel.
The tarball only has i386, alpha, and sparc
archs. The kernel-sources package only has
the arch you installed for (likely i386).
The full kernel also has mips, m68k, ppc,
arm, and others.
