char-major-5

I recompiled my own 2.2.16-3 kernel to taylor it for my hardware.
All runs greatly now but in /var/log/messages the following error pops up
(apparently with no consequence at all) : modprobe:Can't locate module
char-major-5. I know that major char 5 is related to the serial /dev/cua*
ports but I don't know what I should do to make this signal disappear.
Could you help me please?
