RE: java package

James - I am not the original writer of the Java message but I had posed a VERY similar question. I have downloaded the Sun JDK 1.2.2, un zipped and untarred - not a problem. Got a simple Hello.java program to work - no problem.
As always there is a catch - and that is, when starting a program using visible UI components, i.e. a JFrame, the compiler cannot find the javax.swing.* libraries. How did you set the CLASSPATH, and other required variables (if there are any).

Thanks - Ken Cooper

Hi Mohamed

You can download the java sdk from http://www.blackdown.org or you can get a
copy from http://www.sun.com or http://www.ibm.com

I am using the copy from Sun and have not had any problems. I have also
used the package from Blackdown and IBM.

Jim
