Hello, all:
I've set up one machine on my network to act as an FTP host, and I'm trying
to install RedHat 6.2 onto another machine.
The problems:
1) I can't get the graphical installation program to run -- it always
enters the text install, instead. This is not a big problem.
2) During the installation of the packages, and especially when running
XConfigurator, I get errors about 'grep'/'egrep' not found. Which is true.
When I use c-a-F2 (after the secondary ramdisk is loaded), I can't find grep
anywhere.
I can get it through the install process, but then there's *still* no grep
on the box! I even tried to 'find' it.
Any idea what I'm missing?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
-Steve
P.S. My Linux experience: Nothing recently; Debian about 2 years ago;
Slackware long, long ago...
P.P.S. The reason for the "local" FTP thing is because I had a CD and lost
it, so I burned another one containing the files (not the CD image because
my tools won't allow it), but the machine I'm installing on doesn't have
CD-ROM /w MultiRead, so it couldn't read it. So I set up my NT4 Workstation
machine as an FTP server and put the files on it.
