RAID Recovery...

Okay here's the situation... We built a RedHat 6.2 system with two 9.1Gb
SCSI HDs, each on their own controller and created RAID 1 partitions for
each of the partitions we were using (Swap, /boot, /). RH installed no
problems. Everything worked as advertised. I was very surprised to see RAID
working so easily on Linux, and am now considering doing it for myself at
home. Our network admin wanted to test the RAID recovery. So we powered down
Linux, removed one of the drives to simulate a failed HD and booted. Linux
didn't skip a beat. It asked us if we wanted to change the configuration
since we were now missing a drive. We said 'Do Nothing' as we thought that
was the way to go, keep our configuration and the like. So now we've
reattached the original drive (after formatting it...) and want to rebuild
the array.
This is my pet peeve about Linux, the documentation is crap. Everything I
can find about RAID, HOWTO's etc, seem to deal with older version of the
software since I find my version of mkraid doesn't support the command line
options that are listed in the HOWTO...
Unfortunately I started the procedure before I realized this shortcoming
with the docs.
I booted into linux single.
umounted /boot
raidstop(ed) it...
and now I'm stuck. I can't use mkraid since the version is obviously
different than the one that I can find docs for...
raidstart won't work as it tells me that /dev/md0(what was /boot) is an
invalid argument
Now I'm afraid to reboot the box because as far I I believe the raid isn't
working on /boot anymore and my system won't come up now unless I use the
floppy...
Anyone have any ideas, or can point me to up-to-date docs for RAID under
RH6.2?
