I'd like to install XFree86-4.0.1 to get support for my display
card, an ATI Xpert 2000. I did just what you suggest, download and
compile the source. There were still a few dependencies that need
to be resolved before I can actually install the new rpms that have
been built. I stuck on this one:
error: failed dependencies:
/etc/pam.d/system-auth is needed by XFree86-4.0.1-0.43
/etc/pam.d/system-auth is needed by XFree86-xdm-4.0.1-0.43
Currently there is no /etc/pam.d/system-auth on my system. I've
tried reading through the pam documentation in /usr/doc/pam-0.72,
but I haven't seen anything (nor could I find anything grep'ing the
files).
What needs to be done to create a /etc/pam.d/system-auth?
