Re: SCSI Problem!!

Hai Leonard,...

Alhamdulillah i can edit my /etc/inittab when i tried to boot my linux
again so i can easily 'fixed' it.

>>This is not a SCSI error, but an error with your ATAPI (=IDE) CDrom. As
far
  as I can see your problem is either:
  1) You are trying to mount an audio CD, which is impossible
  2) The IDE cable on your CDrom is not connected correctly
  3) The CD disk is bad
  4) The CD player is bad

Why is this happening, while i didn't ask my linux to do something to my
CDrom? Until now, i don't have any problem with my CDrom.

>> This might be a SCSI/IDE problem. Can you boot from SCSI? Look at man
   lilo.conf and check for the parameters "disk=" and "bios=". You might
have to
   enter an entry such as
   disk=/dev/sda
   bios=0x80
  Or there might be something wrong with your disk geometry
settings. Check your
  BIOS settings. Maybe the option "linear" in lilo.conf might help. And
check
  that your /boot partition is below the 1024th cylinder (unless you use a
  recent lilo (not the one on RedHat 6.2).
  If things don't work out, be a little more specific about your system
  parameters (what kind of hd's/sd's, lilo.conf, SCSI adapter, etc.).

Ok,... here is my /etc/lilo.conf :
----
boot = /dev/sda
timeout = 200
compact
linear
prompt
  default = linux
  ramdisk = 64
  vga = normal
  root = /dev/sda5
  read-only
disk=/dev/sda
bios=0x80
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
image = /boot/vmlinuz-2.2.14-5.0
  label = linux
  initrd = /boot/initrd-2.2.14-5.0.img
other = /dev/hda1
  label = dos
----

The line "disk=/dev/sda" and "bios=0x80" were added (as you said), but it
didn't work. i even run 'linuxconf' and set the LILO boot as usual (before
i have SCSI HD, and it worked). When i rebooted, it still runs win$! For
addition, after i successfuly installed RH 6.2 it prompted 'LI' then i
installed win$ (because of another reason).

thanks for helping me, don't forget to 'cc' to pradity email com!
