'masalah' SCSI (Re-explanations)

Hai List,...

As Leo asked, i start my problem.

When i installed RH 6.2 at 'LILO' section, i set it MBR. After that,
everything were OK (according to my experience with installing RH 6.2
before). My problem is :

1. My LILO didn't work, it prompted "LI-"

2. I tried to set sound configuration, so i ran 'setup'. before i finished
it, it showed the message like this :

---
ATAPI device hdd:
Error: Unit attention -- (Sense key=0x06)
Power on, reset or bus device reset occurred -- (asc=0x29, ascq=0x00)
  hdd: irq timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy }
  hdd: ATAPI reset complete
  end_request: I/O error, dev 16:40 (hdd), sector 1354368
  ATAPI device hdd:
Error: Unit attention -- (Sense key=0x06)
Power on, reset or bus device reset occurred -- (asc=0x29,
ascq=0x00)timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy } }
  hdd: ATAPI reset complete
  end_request: I/O error, dev 16:40 (hdd), sector 1354376
  ATAPI device hdd:ention -- (Sense key=0x06)
  Error: Unit attention -- (Sense key=0x06)red -- (asc=0x29, ascq=0x00)
Power on, reset or bus device reset occurred -- (asc=0x29, ascq=0x00)
...

(there is also message about SCSI, but i couldn't cathed them, cause my
linux hung)

---

It looks like the CD-ROM problem if you see the message, but i don't have
any problem with my CD-ROM drive and other programs. It's just got hang
when i ran 'setup', 'linuxconf' or something like them. for more
information here is my fstab :

Leo told me to run 'e2fsck /dev/sda5' after boot from CD, and i got this :

here is what i've done:
1. Boot from CD, then type 'linux rescue expert'
I configured my SCSI card, and it was detected (no problemo)
2. run 'e2fsck /dev/sda5' the output was
        e2fsck 1.18, 11-Nov-1999 for EXT2 FS 95/08/09
e2fsck: No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/sda5

The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct
ext2 filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an
ext2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the
superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an
        alternate superblock:
                e2fsck -b 8193 <device>

I think this is my re-explanation for my problems. Tell me if there is
something missing or wrong, Leo.

I hope someone can help me.

Thank you in advance,

Abdul Malik bin Hilman bin Mahyuddin
