Kernel wows

Hi, I'm having trouble with Linux and with my only partially-supported
printer.  I managed to find the problem on the internet...it's a usb
thing.  I had to patch my kernel source and recompile, but under the
patched kernel (2.2.16) my Ensoniq ES1371 sound card, my usb interface,
my PCI ethernet card, my supermount floppy/cd drives, and something
called 'kheader' won't work.  If you can help me with this at all, I'd
appreciate it.
