Redhat 7.0 ~ Is there anyone...

Is there anyone who has successfully recompiled the kernel in 7.0 yet? I ask
this because I keep getting an error :-(  I have already posted a question, to
which nobody has answered, and if this is because nobody knows I don't know.
This now leaves me with the question, do I reinstall, or do I go back to 6.2,
or do I switch distributions.... I mean I have been a user of redhat for about
1 and a half years now, and don't just want to give up. Redhat 7.0 kicks but
:-) However I do need my IDE CD Writer. Maybe there is another way?

Am I the only one with this problem so far?
