RE: Can not login GNOME environment in Red Hat Linux 7.0... Help me!

hang on... Isn't RedHat 7.0 supposed to be compatible with the problematic
Intel 810e chipset?
I know RedHat 6.2 isn't. I had to do a lot of things b4 I could get
X-Windows to start.

Just a thought.

That's bad. :)

okay...

Bad -- another missing module

Because the module isn't there (doh!)

Looks like large chunks of things are missing...

That looks good, agpgart is loading and setting itself up properly.

Having the aperture set at 64MB on a 64MB machine is a little...iffy, but
shouldn't matter.

My initial guess would be that you did an rpm -Uvh on a kernel, and didn't
reconfigure /etc/lilo.conf or run /sbin/lilo to reset the Main Boot Record
at the start of the drive. It looks like most if not all of your kernel
modules (drivers) are missing, which is a symptom of that. This usually
means you upgraded your kernel via up2date, which currently is a Bad Thing
(tm) because up2date doesn't know how to do kernels yet.

Did up2date list the kernel on the "Skipped" Page, or on the "Package
Selection" page? We've heard that this is a problem (the kernel is
supposed to be on the "skipped" page for obvious reasons, but that page
can be confusing in up2date) but have not been able to replicate it in
support.

Thanks,

Matt
