Mein gott! That is expensive indeed, more so because its a internal modem.
I am surprised at the cost because I thought the external ones were
allways the more expensive because of the external power pack and casing
etc involved, cant you find a cheap 56K external modem made in taiwan or
singapore, you should be able to find a external modem for around 45$, at
least thats what my external modem cost me in the equivalent of US
currency.
linmodems.org is a good site to check modems for linux compatibility.
