I have 2 NICs installed in my system and a Primary name +
domain name for each that have different names under Adapter 1 and 2
respectively. I understand that this is so to allow ping with a
specific IP or by using the alias. But, why does the HostName field has an IP
address under it. Why is there only a Host Name tab?
I notice when changing it, the change is reflected when I input command lines in
one of the many terminal programs. For example, it
was [root firstname_used] and when I changed it, it became
[root second_used] Is the Hostname tab primary for this. I assumed that
it identified the entire computer as one and could be referenced through the
network as I do by pinging a NIC. Can someone enlighten me in this matter?
Thanks.
