I just have registered a domain and is franticly searching for
ways to host my own web server. I have a few leads, but there are some gaps left
unanswered. GraniteCanyons free DNS service, I just read something about their
servers being unreliable. Can multiple DNS servers from different
sources be used to give that stableness? Having more than one and from different
sources (ISPs, etc) will not cause problems, will it? My ISP does not
provide a static IP, but uses Dynamic IP Addresses and will not cooperate
with me. Even if I use a free DNS service, how will this work since I have no
static IP address to configure in my settings of my server? Does
anyone have any suggestions or a step-by-step guide as how they did
it? One could register for IP addresses with ICANN starting at $2500.00 a year.
I prefer not to go that route until I am well experience in this matter.
Register.com has authority over my domain and I have trace the IP address to it.
If I subnett the IP address, will it work? Why not. I allot of you out
there I know will give many reasons to why I can't do it. This is the reason to
why I seek for your well educated advice. Thanks.
