Can someone help me get past a stumbling block or two?
I want to set up dual monitors. (I have this working when I boot this
computer in Windows 2000)
For RH7, I found the Xinerama-HOWTO page.
I'm in over my head a bit. I got to the point where it tells you to XFree86
-scanpci
I couldn't run that while in X windows, so I did a shutdown now to get to
single user mode. (was this the right way to get out of X windows for
this?)
After I got the information I needed, it tells me to make sure I have the
monitors configured the way I want them. So, I typed
/usr/X11R6/Xconfigurator, and after 3 screens it fails with the "Server
doesn't exist, can't continue." message.
I tried searching for that message and Xconfigurator I got the following
page:
http://www.redhat.com/support/manuals/archive/RHL-5.1-Installation-Guide/man
ual/doc119.html
So I tried what it seemed to be a good stab at it:
cd /usr/X11R6/bin
ln -sf xserver-wrapper ./X
cd /etc/X11
ln -sf "../../usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_SVGA" ./X
It didn't find my Xconfigurator problem.
I'll keep guessing, but any information would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.
