cannot open Xwindows

Hello everyone. Please let me ask for help once again.
(Something alwasys seems to go wrong, Agghh!!)

X windows will no longer start up on my RedHat 6.1 system
(it was working fine previously.)  I am not sure what we while we were 
configuring some other daemons to cause this.  I am relatively new to 
Linux, but have checked the
configuration files shown below.


The startx log gives the following message:

FontTransSocketUnixConnect:  Can't connect: errno =111
failed to set default font path
'unix/:-1,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/font/misc, 
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/font/75dpi,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/font/Type1,
/usr/X11/lib/X11/font/Speedo'
Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'



My /etc/X11/XF86Config file has the following entries.

#FontPath   "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType"
FontPath    "unix/:-1"
FontPath    "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc"
FontPath    "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi"
FontPath    "/usr/share/fonts/default/Type1"
FontPath    "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo"


My /etc/X11/fs/config file has the following entries.

catalogue = /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled,
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled,
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi:unscaled,
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc,
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1,
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo,
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi,
/usr/share/fonts/default/Type1,
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType


I am not sure what other information is needed to figure
out what is wrong.

I tried reinstalling the following two font rpms, but that didn't help.

xtt-fonts-0.19990222-3.noarch.rpm and
XFree86-75dpi-fonts-3.3.5-3


I would appreciate any help on what I should do next.
I am clueless at the moment.
