I couldn't find a Netview list so I thought I would try these lists.
I am trying to use Netview for AIX to auto discover 2 linux boxes on
one of my subnets. Both of these linux boxes contain 2 ethernet
cards/ports.
I have 2 sets of these linux boxes
1) VAlinux boxes running RH6.2 (2.2.-14)
2) Penguin Computing boxes running RH6.2 (2.2.-16)
My problem is this:
When I hook up the VALinux boxes, Netview autodiscovers both eth0 and
eth1. When I hook up the Penguin boxes, it doesn't(it only discovers
the IP of eth0). As far as I can tell, the networking is set up the
same on both boxes. /etc/sysconfig/network and
etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0/1 were copied from the
VALinux to the Penguin boxes.
I have tried both net-snmp 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 on the boxes, but I get the
same results.
I believe there is some difference in the network setup between the
VALinux and Penguin boxes, but I can't find it . The only obvious
difference is the kernel version. Is there a way to find out what
options are compiled into the kernel. At this point I have run out of
ideas.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jeff
