RE: default directory creation permission

Damain:

You can use the "umask" command to change the permission bit settings for
the next create operation. The bit-values for umask are exactly opposite
those for creation, so:

to get: use:
777 000
755 022

etc.

You "can" put this into your personal startup profile, or the profile of an
account that you'd generally use this sort of priv-diddling (for instance,
with an Informix UniVerse database account).

Hope this helps,
Bill

Subject: default directory creation permission

I am running redhat 6.1. When I create a directory, the default permission
setting is 775 or "rwxrwxr x". How do i change this default setting?
