RH 7.1 scsi module doesn't load

Red Hat 7.1

onboard symbios SCSI that loads as module with no problem
and a DPT (driver is eata.o) that for some reason doesn't load
up.  It is in /etc/modules.conf as host_adapter1 but it still doesn't
load.  I have /etc/fstab setup to mount the device that goes with
it /dev/sdc1 to /opt but it always fails to load the module.

For now what I do is in rc.local I put in
insmod eata
mount /opt

this works, it reads the partition for /opt from /etc/fstab
