rpm problem w/ 6.1 & 6.2

when I try to install the netscape-4.77-0.6.2.src.rpm from a redhat
mirror (I dl'ed it from valinux) I get the following:

rpm -Uvh netscape-4.77-0.6.2.src.rpm 
only packages with major numbers <= 3 are supported by this version of RPM
error: netscape-4.77-0.6.2.src.rpm cannot be installed

Ok, I assume there is an epoch related problem as the list has been discussing
lately, so I thought I'd roll my own.  Only I tried:

rpm2cpio netscape-4.77-0.6.2.src.rpm 
only packages with major numbers <= 3 are supported by this version of RPM
error reading header from package

iSo, now I'm stuck.  What do I have to do next?
