Getting Online - DSL - Ethernet

I am trying to get online for the first time with Linux. I'm running Red Hat
6.0. I've heard that I should install pppoe from
http://www.roaringpenguin.com/pppoe/ and try that.
Is this the best way to go? Or is there another option?
