RE: Newbie Installation

Glad to see another Linux newbie :)

As far as Apache is concerned, search /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf for "php",
I believe there are several lines that you will have to uncomment. Also, do
an rpm -qa |grep php to make sure that you have the mod_php packages.

RH 7.1 doesn't come with MySQL, if I am remembering correctly. Grab an RPM
from their site.

What exactly are you trying to do with FTP? Anonymous or user? wu-ftpd
runs out of xinetd, so look at /etc/xinetd.d/wu-ftpd for some config
information. also, look at /etc/ftpaccess.

Hope that helps.

Subject: Newbie Installation

I just installed Linux for the first time using RedHat 7.1. I was trying to
set up a web sever with PHP and mySQL installed. I was able to get Apache up
and running by simply running the httpd... PHP pages however are not
working, they are simply being interpreted by Apache as text. I can't figure
out where mySQL is hiding and I can't seem to find the FTP daemon so that I
can FTP files up to it.... Suggestions? Thank you.
