Jim,
   Close the windows, then log off, saving the current desktop. There's a
button to push in the log off dialog box.

Hi,
When i log in my gnome session , i see couple of windows,
"file browser" and "file manager" open by themselves.
How can i stop them from launching by themseleves like that?.
