Really, this is a SCSI bus issue.  Standard SCSI is not designed to
handle hotswapping like this.  It somehow confuses the bus and/or
the termination.  Don't do it under any OS.  Hotswap hardware is
available that will work under many flavors of Unix, including Linux.
