Adding new harddrive

Hi,

I would like to add a new harddrive to my Linux 5.2 server.  I intend 
to move my current /usr partition to the new drive.

How do I go about it.

The drive is installed, and I got to fdisk and partitioning went fine.

Next step I presume is formatting it.

What is the Linux equivalent of Dos Format?

I did not install the X-Windows on the server, and can only use 
commandline instructions.
