RE: Xconfig.

I just helped my colleague install X in his PC, so what I did to get it to
work
is still fresh in my mind.
Okay, this is what I did. He has a Dell Optiplex machine, with a NVIDIA TNT
graphics card.

So, I installed Linux, and everything chose by default.
Then, tried to run X, didn't really like the resolution. Tried the 32bit
resolution, didn't work.
So, I installed 2 things, XF86Setup, and XFree_SVGA32 (or something like
that)
Since XConfigurator didn't work for me, I had to install XF86Setup. (FYI,
case sensitive)

So, try to install these 2 things, and run XF86Setup. that should help. You
can get this
programs from your Linux Redhat CDs.

Don't know how to install? rpm -ivh <filename.rpm>
wanna know whether it's installed? rpm -q <name-of-program>

No point swapping video cards and monitors just 'coz Linux dont' support it.
Where's the fun in that? :)

David Chan

Subject: Xconfig.

Hello, list. I can not for the life of me get x to work on my machine no
matter how hard I have tried.
I have a Trident 9660 vidio card, PackardBell monitor, and I just can't get
x to work.
Any suggestions. I am thinking about getting a better vidio card, and
swopping monitors.
If anyone could help me. Thanks.
