Re: compiling the kernel



After all the wailing about RH 7.0 & gcc 2.96, no one answers this?

This sounds a lot like using gcc 2.96 instead of the older compiler
RH renamed "kgcc" in Red Hat 7.0.  The new compiler is so much better
that breaking source compatibility for the Linux kernel, Samba, and
several other software packages actually included with Red Hat was
deemed neccessary.

Make sure the "kgcc" package is installed.  You may also need to set
the environment variable CC ("export CC=kgcc") before doing your make.
