Hi Karl!

I got the same Problem a few days ago. My solution was a

rpm -ivh glibc-2.2-12.i386.rpm glibc-common-2.2-12.i386.rpm

The Problem with --force is that you will never be able to make
a clean uninstall, because you are breaking depdencies.
