RE: tcsh vs. bash

The one thing I would add is this

bash ~ sh

sh is what most of the installers seem to prefer you use

I think you will find most of the functionality differences/dinctions to be at the scripting level. In terms of user niceties bash,tcsh, and ksh are functionally more or equivelent. I have heard that the ksh has much better scripting capabilities, but I can't verify that from personal experience.
