Here's what my printcap looks like for one of my printers attached to a
jetdirect:
##PRINTTOOL3## REMOTE ljet4 600x600 letter {} LaserJet4 Default 1
lp0:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp0:\
:mx#0:\
:sh:\
:rm=utpserv:\
:rp=RAW1:\
:if=/var/spool/lpd/lp0/filter:
You see that rp=RAW1 which is for jetdirects that can have more than one
printer. On my old printserver, which died a couple weeks ago, rp=PORT1,
so you may try that. Or just rp=PORT if you only have a single LPT port on
the server. About rm=utpserv... That's the dns served name of our print
server. You can also just use an IP address, if you don't have a name in
hosts or dns.
Of course the other stuff has to exist (/var/spool/lpd...). I do use
printtool for setting printers up and then testing them. I've gotten
printers to work on terminal servers (PORT32), Samba servers
(WIN95/98/NT4) and several different kinds of unix boxes (RedHat 5.2, 6.0,
6.1, 7.0, HP/UX 9.04, 10.nn, 11.nn, AIX 3.2.5-4.3.2, etc.)
Have some fun...

I can't help you with printtool (I never use it), but remote print
queues are usually handled by an entry in /etc/printcap that specifies
"rm=remote_machine_name" (should resolve to the box's IP) and
"rp=remote_queue_name". For HP JetDirects the queue name is "raw".
I'm not sure what it is for a Linksys PrintServer, but many will work
with any name, so you may want to just try "raw" if you can't get
any information from Linksys.
Even if you do setup the queue with printtool, check the results in
/etc/printcap directly to see what it did.
