Re: SCSI Merry-go-round

I have tried everything suggested and more, yet the problem persists. I gave up yesterday and sent it to Redhat support. No response yet except; "We have escalated this issue to our senior support engineers. Expect our return response in a couple of days or so."

This is the first "Catch-22" situation I've ever seen with a Linux setup. The catch is that lilo needs to be on sda in order to work after the repairs, but in order to make changes with /sbin/lilo, the system must be booted so that /boot is on sdb. So I must point lilo.conf to sdb, run /sbin/lilo, and rewrite fstab. Then on reboot, lilo's config information is wrong, so lilo fails, and fstab is fubar, which makes the system hard to boot.

I even ran /sbin/lilo from rescue mode to try to get around that, but that failed. The system won't boot at all with the Zip drive unplugged. I had hoped that would stop it from becoming sda.
