Yes, in most(all?) of the cases what you say is correct, but some stupid
ISP's run that utter crap RAS (windoze RAS server) which pppd had some
problems in the past, with the RAS erauesting CBCP (callback control
protocol) and the pppd not understanding it. But basically you should be
able to connect to your ISP , ie if you can dial in and login using what
eer authentication method (PAP, or terminal based) then pppd should handle
it.
