If you have a backup of your system, I would suggest restoring your /etc directory. If not You have probably have a big job on your hands. There are a ton of configuration files under that directory including /etc/passwd, /etc/pam.d, /etc/rc.d and a lot of others that most likely are specific to this particular system. -Steve Manish N.
