Hi,
I am having a problem booting my linux boox after unwittingly playing
around with lilo.
I was trying to restore my backup after discovering that my linux (that
has RH6 on one partition and RH 7 on another) was hacked. The process was
not as smooth as I had hoped. One of the problem is lilo. I initially
used lilo on RH 7, but after restoring RH 6 backup, the lilo on RH 6 took
over. I booted to RH 7, and rerun lilo from there, but RH 6 lilo still
runs, so that it is like RH 6 lilo runs than RH 7 lilo runs at boot
time. To save those few seconds wait time, I unwittingly uninstall lilo
(lilo -U) from RH 6, and now I wasn't able to boot the linux box.
I used Tom's boot disk to boot the machine, and tried to mount either
partition, but was told it was either wrong fs type, bad option, bad
superblock on device or too many mounted file systems.
I would appreciate any help. Thanks!
Best wishes,
Chip
