Very interesting...............hmm....I am not suggesting any solution
here, but just adding bit more info for the international users.
I have personally not used "OPTUS" (one of the telecom's in Australia"
cable modem with Linux. They clearly say that they do not provide any
support on Linux.
The only bit to configure in OPTUS Cable modem is to set your computer
name. Please check that you have set the proper "hostname". Please set
the rest for automatic detection.....including, IP, Proxy and other
stuff. The only bits you will need to enter will be the mailuser and
outgoing mailserver names.
I think this should give you a start. Once again, I am not sure if OPTUS
wants you to set the hostname in some particular manner.
