Hi:
I'm really new to Linux - so bear with
me.
I'm trying to install RH 7.1 on my Laptop, an AMS
Tech Travel Ex.
I can't get X configured to save my
life!
If I use Graphical Install - it hangs every time
while installing the XFree 86 package. Does not seem to matter if I use
the Probed card (Trident Cyber 9388), or choose a Generic SVGA card. The
screen is fine during the setup phase (where it brings up a sample screen), but
it will not complete the installation.
If I use Text install - all packages will install
properly, but I cannot get XConfigurator to work with ANY monitor setting!
(I've tried almost all of them).. I have even downloaded a sample config file
from a person who has successfully got an earlier version of Red Hat running on
his Travel Ex.
If I bypass the X configuration during the install
process and try to run it later. It will still not configure. I keep
getting an error about not being able to load the 'pcidata' module, because it
does not exist.
Once again, forgive me if I don't have the
terminology down. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
