hi
instead of trying in tar pakages try out using jdk RPM pakages
available in www.rpmfind.net that is the best way to install JDK.

tryed the comand tar zxf jdk1_2_2.i386.tar and set the path to
/.../jdk1.2.2/bin and /.../jdk1.2.2/lib. When I try to compile
file.java with the javac comand I get "segmentation fault" error
message.

after reboot? Isn't the export PATH="$PATH:/.../jdk...." the right
comand? Or I have to do something else after setting the path?
