RE: Minimum memory and Compaq smartarray on 7.1



The problem your having is that when you pass the mem=switch it doesn't
fully work on the compaqs.
I do not know if this is a problem with any machine with the bios limit or
just the compaq proliants but
I have this issue with both of them.  If you go back in the scrollback
you'll see that what is happening
is that the machine does not really take the switch mem=128mb.  If you look
in scrollback memory still
shows at 16mb available even with the switch.  However the ram drive used in
the installation attempts
to load into the memory area specified with the mem=switch and fails because
the kernel thinks that it
still only has 16mb available.  I detailed the specifics about 2 weeks ago
if you look as i had the same
issue.  I ended up just running a different distribution but I have been
told by someone else with the same
issue that they loaded 7.0 and were able to upgrade to 7.1.
