I just installed RedHat 7.1 on a system at school. Everything works
fine except, the eth0 interface. Here's the problem. The NIC is a
3c509 and it is configured for none Plug and Play. It is setup to use
IRQ 11 and base io 210. Since this computer also is used for several
other disk configurations, it really isn't an option to change the IRQ
and base io to match what RH 7.1 is wanting to give it.
RH 7.1 wants to give the NIC IRQ 10 and base io 230. My question is how
can I force the needed IRQ and base io. I've researched the 'ifconfig'
command through the manual pages. It stated the 'ifconfig' could be
used to force these resources but when I tried, it didn't work. Also,
the append option in lilo.conf could be used,
append="ether=10,210,eth0". Will this work or is there something I can
place in one of the initialization scripts.
Thanks i advance.
Best Regards,
Art
