Ok, here's the output....
I reinstalled 7.0 default server install.
[root localhost rob]# fdisk -l
[root localhost rob]# free

[root localhost rob]#
/etc/fstab

/dev/ida/c0d0p1 /boot ext2 defaults 1 2
/dev/ida/c0d0p6 /home ext2 defaults 1 2
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,owner,ro 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner 0 0
/dev/ida/c0d0p5 /usr ext2 defaults 1 2
/dev/ida/c0d0p7 /var ext2 defaults 1 2
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
/dev/ida/c0d0p9 swap swap defaults 0 0
/etc/modules.conf
alias scsi_hostadapter cpqarray
alias scsi_hostadapter1 ncr53c8xx
alias eth0 tlan
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
alias scsi_hostadapter2 ncr53c8xx
I tried passing /dev/ida/c0d0p8 at the boot: prompt but I get the same
results as before. Hope you can see something I'm missing. RH7.0 installed
without a hitch.
Thanks.

You might try using Tom's RootBoot disk. It's Linux on a single bootable
floppy and is very useful for checking out situations where the install
never really gets off the ground.
Get it from http://www.toms.net/rb/
