Re: mysql

I had the same problem when I installed MySQL. So do many others, I
understand. My recommendations are the following:
-Use Red Carpet to install MySQL and its dependencies--this gets rid of
conflicts.
-Do a 'ps -ax' and 'kill' all processes involving mysql, safe_mysqld,
mysqld, et cetera. Then make sure you run 'setup' (only works in later
versions of Red Hat, to my knowledge), and in the system services tool tell
it to use mysqld. You should also do a 'service mysqld status', 'service
mysqld restart,' et cetera. Play around with it. The problem is essentially
that you have MySQL running already and your system's confused about it.
