Internal modem how to

Hi all

I have bought a  new internal modem with motorola chipset . It works
perfectly in my windows. But alas my linux does'nt detect it. I think the
manufacturer has not given the driver for linux. Does linux support internal
modem. I have this doubt because my sound card is also not working it is
yamaha 32 bit pci card. Has any one installed internal modem in redhat linux
before. Please guide me if possible.
