Problem with smc-ultra ethernet card

Hi All,

I have a problem with RH 7.1
I am unable to set up the ethernet card. I have a SMC Ultra,
but when I load the smc-ultra module, I get some messages in
/var/log/messages
One is about "interupt stopped by card" (I have to look up the exact message
When I try to use eth0, I get
NETDEV: transmit timed out.

I already tried upgrading to kernel 2.4.5  (kernel-2.4.5-0.4.i386.rpm)
but to no avail...

Does anyone have some info on this problem?
