Recompiling the Kernel for Modules

Hi all,

I've just reinstalled Redhat 6.2 and now wish to recompile the kernel for
modules.  When I go the prompt and cd /usr/src/linux press return and then
type make menuconfig I get something like:  make:  target not found to make
'menuconfig'.  STOP

Why would this happen after I've just reinstalled Linux ?  How can I sort
this ?


Any ideas anyone ?
