Re Recompiling the Kernel for Modules

Steve, thanx for your reply.  Unfortunately the directory isn't the problem.  /usr/src/linux points to linux-2.2.14 which contains a configs folder, an include folder and a readme file.  No sign of a 'MAKE' file anywhere :(

I really can't understand this as I didn't have this problem before and I've only just reinstalled redhat 6.2 and the only things I've done are set up a net connection and install xawtv, well as far as I know I did !!  I'm lost !!

Any other suggestions ?

Cheers

Graeme

Graeme,

You could try removing you /usr/src/linux directory and untarring a clean set
of sources in /usr/src.  Sometimes when you untar linux it creates the source
tree in something like /sr/src/linux/linux.  So it could be you are simply
running make from the wrong directory.  Just a couple thoughts.

Every truth passes through three stages before it is recognized.
In the first it is ridiculed; in the second it is opposed; in
the third it is regarded as self-evident.
