Hello All!
Hope you don't mind yet another newbie inquiring on how to do technical
things with respect to RedHAT 7.0 installations...
I have installed a 2nd harddrive on my Pentium II 350...It is now the
primary master...and a 20 gig harddrive with 4 partitions...there is no
operating system on it as yet...but i want to install windows 2000 pro
first and then RedHat 7.0...make the appropriate partitions for the Linux
swap and one for everythings else..and then also make another partition
for trying another flavor of Linux...perhaps FreeBSD or Caladera or
another distribution or perhaps several.
I have not been successfull installing another version of Windows...my
original hard drive is a 4.3 gig...now set as the primary slave...it is
nearly maxed out...so I was thinking of copying everything to a partition
of the new drive and then cleaning the old one up and putting Redhat 7.0
on that drive. Suppose there are good and bad ways to do all
this...anyone have time to clue me in?
Could someone tell me what is the best proceedure to achieve this?? Do I
need to redo the partitions...they are all about 4.5 gig...with the
exception of one which has a Drive Image copy of my original harddrive on
it...but it has not been opened...so the new drive is basically storage at
this point and I want to get my dual boot (at the very least) going...but
actually would like to be able to do a multi-os boot.
I am doing thing for a college project and to study and train myself in
Linux distributions...etc.
I have Partition Commander and System Commander available, but should I
use the Lilo that comes with Linux for the dual boot? Can this program
handle multi-boot systems?
I would appreciate any and all suggestions, solutions, etc.
Sincerely,
