Re: problem with ftp login being sooo slow



Well, you got the problem right.  It is a reverse DNS time-out.
A is looking up any FTP client IPs and trying to resolve names.
What are you doing for DNS on this network?  Just /etc/hosts on A?

If you are really only using hosts files, check your /etc/nsswitch.conf
and try putting files first for host lookups.  (You'll see what I mean.)
If you are using DNS, put the new IPs in the DNS and you're done.
