installation of RH 6.1 on KT7A Raid

Ok, I got a KT7A Raid motherboard with a 1 Ghz Athlon Thunderbird.  What I need to know is this:  How do I get the setup to recognize the new hard drive, when the drive is on IDE 3, the HPT370 ATARAID Controller.  

My hard drive is the IBM Deskstar 45 GB, with ATA100 (7200 RPM).

I have tried to boot using linux hd=5606,255,64 at the boot prompt, I have even tried this:  linux ide=hde.

Is there something I am missing, or should I just upgrade to RH 7.0 (where they might have the ATARAID support.)?

If I have to,I can do a network installation or from the hard drive, I am currently running Win98 barely.
